it was patrick igoa's 250 yamaha coming out of abbey corner, before the daily express bridge. it was an open practice session, in that any sizes of bike counld run in the session, and igoa clipped alfred waibel on a 125 mba, and fell off. this was for the british grand prix in 1982. when barry came through abbey he had very little chance of seeing and avoiding igoas bike.

Hi Mick f. Barry had a lot of crashes. I think I remember him going over a blind crest and hitting a 250 rider. but I,m unsure. T big one with the pins and X-rays all over the papers. I think was Daytona Raceway in 1975. he was on a Suzuki 750 and blew a tyre at 175mph. the fastest recorded crash at the time. But like you I still think he had a Foggy. Just cant recall where or when.
I stand corrected the crash with the X-rays is the one in question http://news.independent.co.uk/people/obituaries/article36333.ece

When Barry Sheene had his accident, it wasn't that he hit someone, the tire he had blew on him, causing the accident. I have an encycylopedia of motorcycles that says so.
