For the past 3 days, I've been killing over 20 flies a day in my house! On the first day, I noticed about 6 of them on the wall, and were very easy to kill. They didn't even budge or try to fly away when I killed them. Then I started noticing at least 10 of them on my sliding balcony door, and killed those as well. They are all over but they dont fly around, they seem to just stay by a window or a mirror. Right now, I looked in my laundry room and the vent on the ceiling seems to be the point of origin. There are over 20 flies in there crawling around. I live in an apartment building, do you think something happened on the floor above me? I just cannot understand what is going on!!

I think something something is attracting them from the apartment above. Since you've found the vent to be the point of origin, call whomever is in charge of your building so they can investigate.

In the meantime, cover the vent & kill those in your apartment with a Fly trap:
Fill a quart jar with this mixture.
3 cups of water
¼ (one quarter) cup sugar
¼ (one quarter) cup white vinegar
Mix, punch holes in the lid, and set it where needed.

Here's some fly repellent ideas :

Flypaper, traps, Citrus or vinegar repellents, using BASIC H. or liquid soap & water. Some add vinegar to spray flies.

Good luck! Hope this helps.

Flies only live for 1 week and have to breed and lay eggs in this short time. The problem is when the evenings turn cooler, under 50 degrees the flies seek warmth to keep from dying before they can reproduce. I have been killing dozens per day for the last week.

Sounds to me like there's some dead animal stuck in the small space between floors. Does your apartment complex have maintenance people you can call in for assistance?

An alternative would be to gather up a lot of spiders and let them go in your apartment -- they'll get those pesky flies!

Call your landlord immediately, flies are attracted to sent so something is making them stay in that area!
