surplus coat hangers from my cupboard. Plastic, wood or wire they all seem to be multiplying, are they born at night or are they reincarnated socks lost in the washing machine?

You are clearly up on your scientific research; it has been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that those socks that the forces of evil CLAIM are missing are in fact the larvae of coat hangers. Think about; after a few socks have gone missing, suddenly, there is a whole group of new coathangers in your closet. Not only that, but they BREED in your closet - all those socks on the floor are the larvae that have dropped to the ground to start the cycle once again!

Of course they breed in those dark closets. They have all the time in the world you know, while the doors are shut, lights out and you aren't looking. And hasn't it ever occurred to you that those lost socks may not be lost at all? Those singles are the offspring. Socks only get a chance to do the deed in the washer & dryer, so they're a little slower at math than the coat hangers. I've never been able to figure out when and how the moblie homes do it thought. They're out there in broad daylight in front of God and everybody all the time, and they seem to multiply like rabbits anyway. Guess everybody doesn't need quite so much privacy as the rest of us.

Have you considered someone is stealing your clothes instead - leaving you just the hangers as a clue to their hideous crime lol

P.S Can I have your spares as I have the opposite problem ... my clothes keep on multiplying but the coathangers don't :(

What happens is at night when you're asleep they have passionate sex and then multiply. The hang about all day doing nothing and then when the lights go out they go at it like rabbits.

I know. Where do they all come from? Same in my house. Mine seem to be escaping from the wardrobes cos they turn up all over the place, mind you i suspect they get a bit of help from my son, lol
