Wayne Gretsky has an upper body injury and disability and in the initial stages of his injury he spoke publicly about how little is know about upper body injuries and how hard it is to find a specialist who knows how and has treated this kind of injury. A combination Cervical and thoraxic spine injury is not that common apparently.

He has never returned to playing hockey and lives with a lot of pain as well.
