Because the Mets lack toughness and great pitching. They didn't press the acelerator pedal when they had the big lead earlier this month.

I understand that the players play the game. And the coaches coach the game. But the way Randolph has lost control of this team is amazing. There is no team chemistry. I wouldn't be surprised if the Mets loose all there games left. The Mets team just dosn't seem like they care.

The Met's has been struggling badly with their pitching,They need a better pitching coach,Willie Randolph has to be more aggressive hes too soft, Some young pitchers others adjustments as well for the team in order to compete for next year.Randolph,still has the vote of confidence of the gm/owner as well to remain aboard the team as manager.

Cause they have Ch....Ch.......Choked.................and plus, it helps that they obviously don't have enough heart to play the game to the caliber that the phils have played it this year.

Over-worked bullpen, lack of a dominant starting pitcher and fatigue of the players that carried the load when several others had injuries. All this adds up to the cause plus the panic of losing made them play nervous which.
With all this said maybe the Phillies will play relaxed and get beat up by Washington tonight while the Mets get off their butts and WIN!! IT IS POSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I BELIEVE!!!

Once a team hits a slump, it's hard to get out of it because of lack of momentum. I'ts unfortunate it hit them at this crucial time, if they don't make it to october, they will have to do some serious revamping to the roster, perhaps start to rebuild around the younger players. Just look out for the brew crew next year!!!
