Imagine that overnight humanity becomes unable to speak or write any language, like total aphasia, but generalized. You try to speak, but you can only sprout gibberish sounds and mangled pieces of words, you run to a monitor and you find you're unable to read.
Everyone is in the very same condition... could you describe this world?

Well, there are speech and reading, but there is also language and understanding which don't depend on either the ability to speak or to read. People who cannot speak can still have language. People who have language will then communicate using gestures. They 'invent' sign language in order to communicate. If we had no speech or written words and could still communicate through other means we would do that. If we actually had no inner language then we might have very little ability to communicate anything beyond the basic physical behavior. I think that most higher animals communicate better than that. We would be more like very low animals. Perhaps like worms?
