My last menstrual period was July 20, 2007. Meaning, it was already 2 months since my last period. Since last week, I get dizzy and sleepy all the time. I bought a pregnancy test kit last September 25 and it turned out to be negative. Then the following day (September 26), there were small light red spots in my underwear but its not a menstruation because the bleeding didn't continue. I'm broke now so I can't go to a doctor to have a check-up. What can this be? Please help!!! An idea will be greatly appreciated.

Any stress (late period itself may cause that) or anemia may delay periods. If preg test came negative what remains is wait & watch. I take it you don't have anyother problems.
Good luck!

Caveat: I am not a doctor, but a biology student at The University of Texas, and I have all too much experience with menstrual cycles.

Okay, first thing first: Answer these questions: Did you have unprotected sex with in the last 3-4 months? If yes, then you may have been pregnant or are pregnant. The possibility is that you may have had a pregnancy that did not implant well in the uterus, therefore increasing the hormone level that ceases your period...and this reasoning would explain 1) the absence of a period 2)spotting and 3)a negative result
Question 2: Have you drastically increased or decreased in weight over the past 5 months? A decrease in weight or caloric intake will cause your body to stop having periods due to the fact that it takes so much energy during ovulation and if you decrease in calories, the body cuts out processes. If you have gained an extreme amount of weight, then there might be cause for obese-related illnesses that affect your menstrual cycle.
A quick thing to remind you about: if you are a vegan or vegetarian, you may be defficient in iron intake, which usually results in tiredness, pink gums, no energy etc. So make sure if you are a vegan or a non-red meat eater, that you are taking supplemental vitamins and minerals.

For the good news: There are many clinics that provide free and confidential pregnancy and STD testing. I say google up in your home town or nearby city to see where you can go to.

Pregnancy Hints: If you are pregnant you will have tender breasts (which usually are swollen and much more tender), food aversions (some smells or food will make your stomach upset), and later on morning sickness.

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope this helps.

Stress can cause spotting to occur. Based on your other symptoms a virus can sometimes cause this as well.
