Yes, he gave his resignation and the rest of the band accepted it. I heard Nikki Sixx on Howard Stern last week saying it was true but the band will continue to make records without Tommy.

Don't worry... you can catch him on the reunion tour in 2010... Yeah, it's less than three years.
