Okay lets say we finally learn to get along and be buddies. How much do you think this alliance would benefit the US. I mean were pretty much almost the same in military strength and technology. Don't you think working together with this guys would put us into a modern day golden age?

An alliance with post-commie Russia? It would have to be conditional. We could probably help out their' economy, but we would have to teach them how to fish, not just feed them! They're not the endless black hole of need that Africa is,they have things to work with,we might just have to start 'em up.If they righted the ship, they could be a good ally. They have lots of nukes, and something America is almost out of;space.Their' location could potentially serve us,too. To put it in perspective, does anybody know who our' strongest ally is?No,not England, they pull their' weight, but they're small.Israel is just about as powerfull as we are.If they could end the Palestinian thing, they'd be free and clear to do whatever they want.Let's just say, having a Russia standing next to us sounds like a good idea...

Historically, our relationship with Russia was one of cooperation for longer than the bitterness of the Cold War. If our leadership is smart we will continue to aid the Russians economically and politically. The long-term advantages are significant. As "M" correctly pointed out, geographic location is a great advantage to Russia and her allies IF she is able to defend her boarders. Russia's natural resources are vast and we could all benefit by helping to develop those resources. I am being optimistic, but I would prefer having Russia as an ally rather than being an enemy.

I don't think United States would gain much from Russia especially with technology, as for the Russian army I don't think too much of them after all they did get their buts kicked by 800 Taliban.

How do you know we're at the same level? We keep plenty of things private until we want to use them. Russia, I'm sure, isn't going to show off their aces until the time is right either. Especially to us. It would be nice to be buddy-buddy with them though. Doubt it'll happen anytime soon. We're too busy pissing the world off.

Russia will never be our pals! If anything they will team up with China to come against us and Israel. They dispise Christianity and The Jews. Same goes for most Islamic nations. NOT ALL! But Most of them.

No one is going to team up with a nation who has shady intel gathering operations, and has a habit of trying to tell them how to live.

The cold war is long over. Russia's military power is a FRACTION of what it once was.

And no, not really.
