With all due respect "Mommy" Cheap is relative. Not only is it relative to your budget, but also to supply/demand/ and type of material.

The named stores are also relative in pricing material. The issue certainly will produce answers offering personal opinions, but I shop all of them, and what's often CHEAPER might be more inconvenient and cost me the pennies saved on wall board,,,in gas costs.

Without buying??? Hmmmm. Bed sheets in the linen closet? Old drapes? Donated material from some generous relative or friend?

Lowe's and HD are going to be very competitive with each other. I don't think you will find a substantial difference between the two.
