and it won't let me. It says it can't find it, but it's listed right there in the folder. Is there any way to do this without re-booting? Thanks...

i've restarted, searched and refreshed and it's STILL there. but of course i tried to copy it to another folder, 'cause i'm stupid, so now i have it twice and it won't let me delete either one... thanks for the help anyways.

Here is a free program that may help. If it doesnt work then your problem is likely malware and you will nee to run Spybot or SuperAntiSpyware or something similar.

What do you mean it says it can't find it? If you've already deleted it, it may not be accessible, but the 'ghost' file may still be there. The only way to get rid of a 'ghost' file that was deleted is to restart. If it's still there after restarting, then there's something else going on.

I think it's something related to its name, or it has either system, read-only and/or hidden attributes set. so, move all other files in those folders to a temporary one (make new if necessary; only the unwanted file should remain in the folder we'll work into); open a dos box console (START > run... > cmd) and type "cd the\path\to \that\file" then "attrib -r -s -h /s", "ren *.* 1.tmp" (without the quotes, of course!), then type "del 1.tmp" and you should be done! :D (type "exit" to close dos box!)

try the folder or maybe do a search for it and try that way
