An air conditioner is a closed loop system where air is circulated across the evaporator coil, thus removing the heat from the air. The removal of heat leaves cold. The ventilation is the process of circulating the air. Vent means to let out or allow. In this case the air is vented across the coil and into the living space. Thus, ventilation takes place.
