The history of Organized Labor is rife with intimidation, violence, brutality, terrorism and murder. Even in recent times, labor thugs have proven themselves to be an unrepentant criminal entity:
1983 - Eddie York was murdered for crossing a United Mine Workers (UMW) picket line
1990 - on the first day of The New York Daily News strike, trucks were attacked with stones and sticks. One union member was immediately arrested for transporting Molotov cocktails
1998 - During the Communications Workers of America U.S. West strike a worker was threatened with a gun, and a manager was hit in the head with a rock
1998 - Teamsters Orestes Espinosa, Angel Mielgo, Werner Haechler, Benigno Rojas, and Adrian Paez beat, kicked, and stabbed a UPS worker (Rod Carter) who refused to strike
2004 AFL-CIO push their way into a Republican field office in Orlando FL, breaking the wrist of one staffer

Isn't it time to abolish this rubbish ?

Yes.
I say lets do away with all the Dickensian CokeTown nonsense; it's gone on long enough.
Nothing but Armani suited goons who operate that game.
(Very similar to the Seville Row clothed Democrats now that I think about it)

The only reason why organized labor is still around is because the 80th Congress led by the Republicans failed miserably to repeal FDR's awful Union legislation (though Taft-Hartley did slightly restrict the parasitic unions). Later on, the Republicans would nominate a RINO (Dewey) who was to the left of the far-left Truman (who actually originated the "universal healthcare" scheme that the left has repeatedly proposed) for president. Truman asked the Congress to implement Dewey's Socialist agenda, but they refused, so Truman demogagued this to get reelected, even though most of the country couldn't stand him.
We've long needed to repeal the laws that empowered these criminal organizations that we call labor unions. We need to, once again, make it possible for businesses to fire union agitators.

They have certainly outlived their usefulness. Sure... they did serve their purpose at one time and now there are laws that are in place. Unions are now basically organized crime.
I find it rather "off" that this statement was made...
"If labor unions were so bad for companies, why do they flock to unionized states to build? Why doesn't Ford simply pack up and move to Mississippi? Apparently unions must be doing something for companies or they would readily move to a less unionized state."
The fact is manufacturing jobs have been fleeing these unionized states. And more than 75% of Ford vehicles and parts are manufactured overseas due to unions. They all but killed our auto industry. Detroit is near bankrupt. Do the lefties EVER look at the writting on the wall?

It is like the UAW their membership is down to about 80,000.
We do not have to do a thing they will be gone soon. They used to have over 400,000.
Years ago the union was good but not a person has A job and no one else can do that job, that is a waste of money.
With the auto workers GW should have done what Regan did with the air traffic controllers. He FIRED them.

I agree. The times of unions are over. it is the main reason so many of the manufacturing has moved out of the country. Union demand more and more. Nothing is ever good enough. it is time to say so long to an old era

At this rate, no one will have to do a thing. The % of workers who are members of unions is dropping fast. And now with the "Kill Detroit auto companies" strike, it'll drop even faster.

They are out to be the destruction of business and this country.
I say unions should be abolished. All they do is keep the inefficient employed. They would be the downfall of big corporations.
I note that their numbers are diminishing. Hopefully they will go away quietly.

They do have a purpose, because without them some industries wouldn't pay proper wages or give the sort of benefits the workers deserve. An individual is just that an individual and alone has little power against those who they work for, but united workers can get a fair share of the power they deserve. Currently the US doesn't have nationalized health care, and if they aren't unionized many industrial workers wouldn't get affordable health insurance from their employers.

Joining a union should be completely voluntary. It is criminal to force people into joining or get fired/not hired.

Because they are the reason Americans earn a living wage. Neo-cons speak as though corporations ended insidious workplace behavior out of the kindness of their hearts.
If labor unions were so bad for companies, why do they flock to unionized states to build? Why doesn't Ford simply pack up and move to Mississippi? Apparently unions must be doing something for companies or they would readily move to a less unionized state.
Its a shame to see Americans who hate the US labor force.
