I have been thinking about it all day long and it's being bothering lots, lots and lots...
Then I also thought about alerting the public to find her so she could be rescued. I feel so very bad for that poor little child!
It bothered me so much that I asked your same question to a friend who's a detective. He made me feel a little better saying that the picture was released to the media because themselves couldn't find out where she was. They had to make a decision and so they decided to show her picture for the only reason of rescuing her as soon as possible.
Still, I feel bad about it, but, I keep also thinking she'll grow up, she'll definitely physically change... Maybe. I so much hope so...

The local law enforcement agencies requested that the still shots of the girl be shown in order to help find her. I believe that this was not done lightly, and was only done after other options did not help find her. I think it was important to find her in order to make sure she was safe.

Today's AP article reports that the local Sheriff said this:
"The mother was not aware of anything that went on with this young girl," DeMeo said.

There are no perfect choices here. I'd prefer to know that my daughter was attacked, than to remain unaware simply to keep her anonymous. Because the girl's image was publicized, she has been found, Law Enforcement has learned she is safe and with her family and so can stop searching for her. Her mom now has important information about what happened to her. This is not 'the media's" fault...the harm comes from Chester Arthur Stiles.

My one caveat is this: There is no longer any need for images of this girl to be posted. Yahoo News has a link to a CNN video that needs to be removed.

CNN held a press conference tonight with the Sheriff's office and this was mentioned. What the detective said was that in order to get an identification of the little girl and find her it had to be released. The media has since been asked to not use the child's picture and if you will notice in subsequent reports, the child's face is or should be blurred out.

They did it because of the urgency of finding the man who molested her and the girl. They weighed the importance of that verses the importance of protecting the ID of the victim.

I think they did the right thing. God forbid that creep should harm anyone else. A child's appearance changes a lot over the years. No one will be able to know who that girl is a year from now and most of us look at those pictures so quickly we can't memorize their faces very easily.

She is being hidden now that she has been found. The reason such pictures are sometimes posted is because authorities are hoping for the public's help in locating and identifying a missing child and the only way they can do it is to show her picture.

Absolute, degrading, disgraceful and totally criminal media behavior. The media always going too far, completely insensitive and only interested in propounding such events as top stories and then acting as judge, jury, executioner calling in all sorts of experts to support their alleged and invariably as it turns out, criminal unlawful pursuit in every respect.

Moreover, when are the media chiefs themselves going to address / overhaul their reporting systems? And more importantly when are Governments going to crack down and pass appropriate laws to mitigate their contemptible behavior and the profound distress their news coverages cause individuals who are then marked / scarred for life as a result?

Freedom of the press does not in any way warrant their ongoing contempt in the manner of their presentations and reporting to the public as rendered by them all!

They needed the public's help to identify this little girl. The Police didn't know if she was being held captive and they showed the monsters face who did this to this little innocent girl so we could see if we noticed this evil low life !!!
Thankfully someone noticed who the little girl was and called the Police. Also this low life monster has been identified now.
I hope he is caught soon and locked up for the rest of his life !!!

If she were to remain anonymous, she would be so forever, having her picture suppressed. How would they ever find out who she is? tell me?

Not if she is missing or at serious risk of harm without knowing her whereabouts. Once found all material should be pixeled when reported as news
