Check in dxdiag (Run dxdiag). If soundcard and driver details are not there, reinstall the driver.

Any possibility that you turned it off by accident? Look in the lower-right of your screen for an icon that looks like a speaker. Click the left arrow if you need to. If you see the speaker, and it has a red circle on it... left click the icon and uncheck the mute box.

Does your keyboard have a mute button on the top? A speaker-shaped symbol? You may have bumped this and turned your sound off.

If you have stand-alone speakers, make sure everything is plugged in correctly.

Good luck!

maybe your sound card driver is not working well anymore or the card is disable. First enter in device manager, go on sound card, right click - proprieties and see if thr device is enabled. If is enabled is okm try to reinstall the driver. There can be another problem, open the "volume control" from right down, and see if is not selected some "mute" there, if is unselecte it.
