They are a game behind the Phillies with 2 games left to play. The Mets have been losing to the worst teams in the league as the Phillies have been on fire the last couple of weeks including sweeping the Mets in back to back series. The Mets have no heart and will be known from this moment for committing the biggest choke job in regular season history.

Pitching. Out of the top five starters (Maine, Glavine, Perez, Hernandez, and Sosa), only two have an ERA below 4.00. Add the fact that they don't have a #1 to set the tone, their pitching doesn't have what it takes. Their offense hasn't played as well as expected either but they are averaging close to 5 runs a game.
Don't forget that the Phillies pitching is also horrible so don't count the Mets out.

When they hit, they cant pitch, and vice versa.
17 games, 7 game lead, all evaporated. When you lose 7, 8 home games in a row, with a playoff spot on the line, then you are doomed.

Because they have been overrated from the GET GO,,,And man did they develop these massive egos! The team is just falling appart,i just feel bad that Willie is getting the blame for managing this group or overrated overpaid BUMS!!

not to be a jerk, but i looked at the mets box score for today and it said they got 12 hits but only 4 runs. they outhit the opponent but didn't win and had 9 LOB
