The American people, for the most part, are terribly isolated from reality.
We have an attitude that our $hit doesn't stink, then throw in a healthy dose of Ugly Americanism, along with a military presence on every continent on the globe, plus we are the largest exporters of arms to the world, then factor in our two wars under bogus reasons ---- what in the hell would you expect the rest of the world to do? Hold their beers up high and salute us with three cheers?
Why in the world the people in the states can't understand that is beyond me.

According to a 2005 congressional study, the USA sells 35% of the worlds arms, and other studies put that as high as 60%. On the other hand, the same congressional study puts China at 3%. According to me, that is 3% too much and 35%-60% too much.
And yes, we do have a military presence on every continent in the world, Asia, Africa, South and Central America, Australia, the Midddle East, and of course Europe --- did I leave any out?
According to this site the USA sells 36%, Russia 16% and FRANCE 11%

Their source, the same congressional study I sited.

Tibet was a monarchy dictatorship before China invaded. Yes, it is terrible what China did, but today the Tibetans have more say in their lives and government then anytime in their history.
China last year completed train service there as is encouraging their people to visit.
Tibet is also doing far better economically then anytime in their past.
Not an apologists for China, I am apologizing that people believe all the china bashing.

I wish the American people would understand, that freedom is not always measured in freedom of speech, etc, it is also measured in freedom from fear, freedom to seek their calling, freedom to pretty much do what they want. I feel more free in China because I can walk out of my home anytime, day or night and not be in fear from getting mugged, to being able to travel at will anywhere I want, and to do what I want.
The freedom to speak out is in China, albeit, if one wants to make trouble, then trouble is what they will get. That is not right, but the Chinese people have more say in their lives then anytime in their past and are given more freedoms as time goes forward, at China's own pace, not the instant gratification that the west wants.
We have seen what instant gratification has done in our two wars...China is smart enough to understand that.

I worked in the business of news for a decade and it is not free, it is really a spokesperson for the government. The opposition is buried in the story or the paper.
People get most of their news from headlines, followed by a much smaller percentage from the first 3 paragraphs, then followed by a very small percentage that actually read the whole article.
That is how the press can claim to be free when it has really failed at its biggest obligation, that being a watchdog over our government. Journalism should be the last check in the check and balance system -- our news is seriously broken.
Is the news doing that in some grand conspiracy? No, they are doing it because the American public likes tabloid journalism. That is why the people claimed to dislike all the news about Clintons BJ, but readership was up by double digits.
We get what we want, its all profit driven.

I am a "part time ex-pat", a home in Texas, and a home in the Mexico mountains ( like about 600,000 other ex-pats). In my life, 65+ years, I have traveled, worked and lived in several foreign countries, as has my 34 year old son ( presently in Japan).
It is with a sad heart / mindset that I must agree with you !!

Most of the world is,and from your links and comments it is safe to conjecture that you are as well. The US is being used as the world police to usher in a godless and Fascist New World Order. The general populace in all nations have no say in altering the plans. They are too far gone. There were some decent leaders here in the early 1990's that got together to see if a coup d' etat could be done successfully, but came to the conclusion that the overthrown traitors would be easily replaced backed by UN troops. They fled to Australia and other areas outside the USA.They heard plans of the coming takeover of America[and the world in essence] in the 1980's.

Not all, but the great majority. One of the reasons is because they only watch Fox News & other biased American based news. I try to keep informed by watching the BBC, NPR as well as other international news broadcasts. Whenever I travel, I also watch that country's news channel just to get insight of their perspectives. Quite often it's very different than ours.

Too many Americans are gullible idiots. They gulp down gallons of sloppy brown slurry that is force fed to them by a media and education system that is as corrupt and deceitful as it's own government. It never ceases to amaze me how dumb good honest people can be sometimes. Things have need to change for a long, long time but i doubt they ever will.

I think you are being a bit dramatic with a tint of propaganda which I have heard before and now with the statistics as well makes me wonder on the authencity of the author. We all can isolate ourselves from reality because there is nothing we can do about it. History will be the best judge. As regards the two wars it was regretable but necessary. If either Iraq or Iran had nukes for sure they would use them against the USA or Israel. Why ? Its simple, both nations are under the control of the Muslim clergy, and these ppl are controlled by the Jihardists (assassins and terrorists) who kills anybody even their own kind because the Koran endorses them. Are there any other options to deal with such ..... ppl?

LOL you list all the negative things about the US and no positive things. How about all the aids that the US hand out every years to different countries? Now you live in a communist country where human right violations are documented. The reality is there are more people in the world want to come to the US than come to China.

We are not isolated unless some choose to be.
Unlike many other countries we have free press. We can research anything going on around the world. They cannot say that in China. As a matter of fact even if they had access in China, there is a large segment of society that is illiterate (statistically speaking much, much larger than the USA)

I find that the majority of them are.
Just reading most of the answers above me proved your point.
I mean, one of the girls said that unlike other countries, the US has a newspaper in which they can read about what's going on in the world.
Personally, I don't know what's dumber about that comment...assuming that every other country but the US is lying in poverty and void of all personal freedoms, or that the US newspapers aren't biased or full of government propaganda.
Watching Fox does not mean you have a clear perception of worldly events!
Travel, read an international newspaper, watch international news programs. Anything.

well, every country indoctrinates their young citizens with the traditional flag waving patriotic BS but over the past 6 1/2 yrs America's media has become a smarmy propaganda machine own by a handful of inter related media corporation which withhold vital information from the American public at the behest of greed driven corporate and political powers.
America no longer knows what's really going and some Americans appear quite content in their willful ignorance.
