Get the cop's badge number. His last name should also be on his badge. Report him if you want. I can't tell you that anything will be done, but try it. Also, as a journalist, I must tell you that taking this information to the news would be very worthwhile. Not only will it publicize that this kind of thing is happening, it will encourage the officer and his commanding officer to take action.
So I suggest you first take this information to his boss. Tell his boss that he sat by and basically encouraged these kids in their harassment of you and your friends. Ask him/her what action is going to be taken. If they tell you none, or if you think nothing is going to be done, then I would take it to the press. The officer sat by while you were harassed, which is a crime.

Don't react. The dominant group has defacto authority to harm or kill blacks. They get bolder with every incident like Jena 6 and countless others. Your job right now is to allow the apparent insults to pass through you by keeping in mind that you are not your body. You--and they are much larger than you think. We are all just temporarily caught up in the illusion--as it was designed--of being separate.
Aside from strengthening the understanding of why you are even on this planet, there are countless countermeasures that you can take to protect your body, not your ego.
Consider the following:
1) Read all the answers carefully and develop your own strategy from the parts;
2) Buy a video camera and record the encounters; show the police; post on My Space or You Tube or develop your own website for the world to see making sure you emphasize where the community is;
3) Make and keep a file of all such encounters;
4) Begin to develop a strong network of friends of all colors who are interested in preventing wrongs;
5) Join the NAACP and encourage others to do the same;
6) Let go of the fear of being harmed or killed and don't be afraid to protect yourself against attack even if it means the tables may be turned against you;
7) Learn to observe carefully and remember details;
8) Eat properly, exercise, and learn how to fight til the death if the need arises;
9) Learn the value of money and use it ever so wisely;
10) Understand deeply that you have always lived, just not in the same body;
11) Black and white tensions will always be around so develop a well thought out plan to effectively deal with the problem and pass on your understandings to your children and others;
12) Understand that God and we set-up these tensions for the benefit of I, you, and them;
13) Never drink, smoke, or do drugs;
14) Remember that there are black people who are capable of doing as much harm to you as the dominant group for different reasons;
15) Avoid children unless you are prepared to prepare them for the inevitable and often deadly encounters with the dominant group;
16) Learn your rights and vote in all elections where you qualify;
17) Develop a network of friends of like mind and pledge to look after one another--even unto death;
18) Tweak up your confidence in everything you do;
19) Don't get attached to anything in particular;
20) Don't get caught with credit and buying things with a "low shelf life"; endeavor to live debt minimally or debt free;
21) When you buy a house, don't remortgage it unless it is a matter of life or death;
22) Remember that words only have the impact that you give them;
23) Start controlling everything you think, say, and do.
God bless. Good luck.

I had something similar happen to me where a group of guys followed me calling me the n-word i walked up to the cop and they were still doing it i told him what was wrong it was obvious he knew and he said the guys did nothing. Just report the cop if you can and if they do nothing about it dont talk back to the guys take a stand for your culture but do not lower theres. Your stronger on the inside than your outside. :P

The guy might be a security guard at a mall or something, because I seriously doubt that a cop would be riding a bus and letting that go on. Even if th cop was crooked, there are more eyes on him than just yours in that situation.

You need to contact the cop's superior at the precinct he works at, and also, I would contact the bus company and report the hatecrimes. The cop has a civic duty to stop that sort of behavior in its tracks but instead he is egging it on as if hoping you will pick a fight so he can arrest you.
I would also report this to the NAACP and the ACLU, and the Attorney General in your state.
Another thing if you don't get caught, is to maybe follow one of them home and sabotage their home, etc.
That's so wrong and illegal. Please post your email address so I can write to you.
EDIT: Second thought, yes Starte Christ is correct in most ways below me; a video camera, one that cannot be easily detected is wise. Keep notes also and when you get it all on tape, contact someone sensitive to race inequality in the media.
I'd want some personal payback also.

I'm inclined to agree with the suggestion to get this information out to the public. Depending on what community you live in, there may be a great outrage about this behavior. I certainly hope so.
Don't fight anyone. You will only get yourself in trouble. It won't fix the problem and it will hurt you more than you have already been hurt.
II wish you well.

Oh you poor dear! You need the dynamic duo- Sharpton/Jackson. Call them immediately and they will fly to your rescue or you could take a laxative. You're obviously full of something,.
