computer game? board game? yard game?

Usually you have to have a working copy of it first. Most companies do not want to buy just an idea.

If its a computer game or a board game then I can problably help you since I have some connections there. For a computer game, at least an "alpha" version (works but might have some bugs and its usually ugly needing more work on menus and graphics and sound). For a board game it can be a cheap cardboard and paper version as long as the game company people can play it.

Also be sure to take some protection of the idea before you show it to anyone. There are some cheap and even free methods that provide at least a tiny bit of protection

A good way to do it would be to actually approach a game company. that would be a good start, they dont have to be very large. Maybe send them an email with screen shots to peek their interest... who knows.. you just have to try.
