Can you go to shadow temple without doing water?

This is a zelda ocarina of time question. I have been trying and tryng to get in! Help?

The above poster is correct. You need the longshot (upgraded hookshot) from the Water temple to get across the gap in the Shadow temple.

No, you can't. You need the longshot to get over the first gap once you enter the Shadow Temple. The Longshot is the upgraded Hookshot that can be found in the Water Temple. Gotta go do the Water Temple first.
