When I went to movies, I usually couldn't afford anything besides something to drink. Fortunately, the Heart Theatre management didn't mind if we brought snacks and never policed the area. I don't really recall what sort of snacks because I didn't take anything when I was by myself. I think maybe we pooled our money for an assortment of candies at the G.C. Murphy store, what they used to call "a five and dime" though the prices weren't really that low.

Actually, in the Fifties through at least the Eighties, we were more interested in seeing the movies than in having a lot of snacks.

Drive-ins were the best because the whole family could go. We'd bring along whatever we wanted~popcorn, pizza, and a coolerful of soft drinks~because we were going to be there for four or five hours. There was a playground for the children, too, just like you see in "Grease"!

I buy my drink and popcorn or nachos at the movies but if I am in the mood for something sweet I will bring in a candy bar. I have never been caught but do feel that I have to sneak it in. I like to bring a butterfinger in.

I will buy popcorn and a drink sometimes, but I'll also bring outside things in. I never hide them and the clerk usually dont mind. I have been asked to finish some food before entering the theatre once, but that is one time out of many.

I once smuggled a pack of Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans to the theatre when I went to go see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The trick is hiding the food in your purse (this is why God invented hobo bags). The movie theatre is not the airport so there won't be any security checks for smuggled food.

At our theater(in a small town), we pay one price and get 2 tickets plus popcorn and two drinks. If I want anything else, I carry it in my purse or pocket of my jacket.

Just get popcorn and soda. Always buy it there. I wouldn't feel right sneaking it in.
