WASHINGTON — U.S.-led forces have killed one of the most important leaders of Al Qaeda in Iraq, a Tunisian believed connected to the kidnapping and killings last summer of American soldiers, a top commander said Friday.

Brig. Gen. Joseph Anderson said the death of the terrorist in a U.S. airstrike Tuesday south of Baghdad, and recent similar operations against Al Qaeda, have left the organization in Iraq fractured.

Even though Death is too good for the likes of Abu Usama al-Tunisi and his ilk, I will sleep tonight with a smile on my face knowing this piece of filth has been sent to his reward in Hades

Good.

From what I've heard, his death is just the latest of several targeted al Qaeda deaths in Iraq. And the Dems think al Qaeda's only in Afghanistan. :)

The more, the merrier.

A good terrorist is a dead terrorist.

How many of our leaders have Al Qaeda killed? Clearly that means we are winning. Al Qaeda has 100 leaders? Surely, you jest! Bin Laden may be dead ; he may be alive. Where ever he is, he certainly is as IRRELEVANT as Saddam Hussein was in the fricken hole we found him in.. Once dead, Osama certainly would be a MARTYR. So don't be so grim.

I caught that story. It's is good news. Unfortunately this is sort of like playing wack-a-mole. I would think that considering the fire power our air force has, we would be able to bomb the cities these terrorists come from and stop more of them from gaining the field. It makes no sense either strategically or economically to pick these people off one at a time, when a policy of carpet bombing would kill them, their possible recruits, their supporters, and anyone even thinking about going their way all at once.

Dead neo-con,

So you'll sleep with a big smile on your face, despite the fact that the US air strike undoubtedly also killed scores of innocent civilians.
That's the fascist element within you right-wingers. Luckily hell doesn't exist. If it did, that would be your eventual destination, along with other hardcore rightists.

Trouble Maker - great answer!

You gotta love the liberal answers.... Oh... I never heard of him therefore... not important.... or, one down, thousands more to go.... So they are saying if we kill Bin Laden... it's just one down, thousands more to go? No.... I get the impression from the lefties that if we kill Bin Laden terrorism would cease to exist.

What is wrong with these people that they can't celebrate good news? Maybe their little moveon dweebs will think of a good name for this General reporting good news too... lets see... what rhymes with Anderson??????

Good!

A few thousand more and we'll be on a roll!

.
EDIT TO: honestamerican....I guess you forgot about the terrorist training camps in northern Iraq that were found and destroyed by our guys in the beginning of the war. Or the checks for 10 thousand dollars Saddam was giving to suicide bombers. I guess that just doesn't fit with your "I hate Bush" mind game.

Big thumbs up to that news. But Al Queda is a puny fraction of the insurgency, so you can put this development in the same box as the death of Al Zarkawi.

As long as the US remains in Iraq here´s what to expect: GIs GETTIN SNUFFED.

Our soldiers are killing or capturing 1500 a month on average. hmmm they must breed like cockroaches. Sooner or later they'll start thinning out their ranks then they won't be so gung ho to die for Allah the Smalla God.
