Using the script is definitely a good start, it has all the hints to doing things well. Things that add to tension can be some of the following. People's spacing in relationship to others onstage. They don't have to be next to each other all the time, space between people onstage is a great tension maker. Silence at the appropriate moments to let everything sink in creates tension and drama. Lighting and proper sound will help with this as well. But all things can break the tension as well without proper direction. The actors are the ones making the tension, so deal with them first, all the other stuff adds to it, but is secondary.

Use of lighting, use of the actors/actresses voices and body language, use of the proper props can give the effect of tension in a scene. Even how the script was written can show the audience that tension between the characters is a facet of their relationship in the scenes is present.

I've been in the situation before but it was my brother. He took her side and always has been like that. I hope your sister isn't like that with you. Go into the situation calm and tell her that you care about her and want her to be happy but you are finding yourself having a hard time trusting her boyfriend. If he comes into the house mad at you or giving attitude because he didn't like what you said remember that he is in your families house not his. Also that if he does treat you bad then his sister should open her eyes and realize he isn't good for her.
