Could it mean something else? What?

When I stand and close my eyes in the evening, sometimes I feel like I am traveling all over the world, spinning and spiraling and rushing everywhere. It has never felt yet like a loss of control, because I can open my eyes and come right out of it.

But it does feel very exciting. It feels like I could make it go on longer if I stayed there with my eyes closed and like I could see more. I may try it soon, perhaps at Samhain.

As to what it means, I don't know, but i wonder if it is a part of age, PC. You and I are about the same age, and I feel the spiraling sometimes as spiraling into the center of my life, going faster and faster, as though you can feel that time is growing shorter, not that death is around the damn corner or anything, but just that we are experiencing an increased awareness of the age we are.

Starhawk has a song about it, called, "Spiraling into the Center." There is a line from it: "Spiraling into the center, the center of us all. Spiraling into the center, the center of us all.We are the weavers, we are the woven ones,we are the dreamers, we are the dream."

It's good. If you haven't read her book, The Spiral Dance, it is a must read for pagans!

Well there are four ways to spiral, In, Out, Up, and Down. Each has a different interpretation. The speed is only an indicator of pressing the need for the particular spiral is. To spiral outward and down is an indicator that you wish to ground yourslef with others around you and get THEM to become more open with you. To spiral Down but towards the center indicates that YOU wish to ground yourself and withdraw from others and witdraw into yourself, that CAN be kind of going out of control.

To spiral upwards and outwards is an indicator of a "Manic"episode. where you want to get ot and do everything at once and just let yourself go competely. To spiral upward and inwards indicates that you need to become more spiritual within yourself.

Flat Sprials: Inward means withdrawal into yourself, outwards mean Expanding yourself into other endeavers.

Tubular spirals downwards indicate the you are tryng to Earth yor energies and upwards mean that you are trying to become more spiritual and "air borne".

In ALL cases YOU are ACTUALLY in control, but the apparent feelings are that you are OUT of control.

It has a specific cultural reference. Rarely does one spiral into a good mood. One can spiral into a pit of self-pity. Rarely does one spiral into have fun or being happy, but one can spiral in a downward direction.

Language can be a think of beauty and language can be used to butcher concepts.

To me life is not a circle, but a spiral towards the Divine, with my perception ever widening.

Sometimes the best way to be in control is to let go.

I've put a lot of airplanes into a lot of flat spins over the years. And the feeling of 'spiraling in' can be a real rush.
The trick is to know when to get out of it before it's too late...... ☺

It is my secret to creative thought. Take an idea, run in circles with what if's, and shoot off in all different directions until I find the right one. If you understand the process of spiral thought...(and your not psychotic) it is a very good skill to develope. If your unstable and spiraling...well that's just running amuck! Amuck, amuck amuckamuckamuck! ; )
