I couldn't believe it, but here's the link:

Is he right, or only pandering? Is he exagerating? Should he be president?

Theicebrg,
It won't be hard for you to "research" this, the article has a link to the video of him saying it. JUST CLICK and see for yourself. Or do you think FOX doctored the video? If so, I'll find it on other web sites for you.

2007-09-28 18:14:01 · update #1

MTMEGGIDO, you're "click here" IS NOT A LINK. Try again. Fox news got it wroing? It not just FOXNEWS. The link to the video is there in the article. Or don't you want to watch it?

Alias Smith and Jones,
You're "transcription" of his statement contains punctuation marks. John Edwards statement was made orally, i.e. there were no punctuation marks. He did say what FOXNEWS said he said. Listen to it again.

Nostradamus,
I just re-watched the video twice. John edwards NEVER said "more", or "more likely". YOU ARE A LIAR. Anyone can watch the video and see for themselves. You're a pathetic, lazy, stupid liar. And I can defend my statement.

Nostradamus,
I see you have your email private, your questions and answers private, you hide in the grass like a snake. Are you a John Edwards operative? You call ME a liar? You lying, low life, ignorant, stupid deceiving piece of animal feces.

MTMEGGIO, I read your response again. Let me quote.. "I didn't look at the video but it looks like..." Do you have supernatural abilities? You know what it looks like WITHOUT LOOKING AT IT? You should go on Dr. Phil, the world needs you. You're someone that knows what something looks like without looking at it. You need to save the world! How does it feel to have supernatural ablities? What else can you see without looking at it?

Pandering.

You cannot fix an inner city social problem by blaming the system in place to fight crime. You have to get to the heart of the matter, which is poor role models, in my opinion.

Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said if he isn’t elected president, the population of African-American males is likely to either wind up in prison or dead.

At an MTV/MySpace.com forum Thursday, Edwards responded to a question about inner-city kids partaking in violence by saying there was no “silver bullet” to fight the problem.

Click here to watch the video.

“We start with the president of the United States saying to America, ‘we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

I DIDN'T LOOK AT THE VIDEO BUT IT LOOKS LIKE FOXNEWS GOT IT WRONG AGAIN.

I suppose that could ease the ache for a few men and women if he used to be viewed combined and no longer black. Funny factor approximately that is There has by no means been a black man or woman elected to presidency so I could suppose that Obama if his sole motive used to be to get to the white condo could be to denounce that he used to be black however he embraced the truth that he's black which truely could extra harm his danger of being president however he stored to his stance and gained. Seriously suppose approximately it. If you used to be walking for the maximum workplace and you'll be able to go for any race could you are saying you had been black? Now possibly you'll be able to however Obama didn't conceal from this truth so the men and women who say or criticize him for pronouncing he's black I suppose it indicates how exact this man rather is.

The quote is correct. Iceberg should become more well informed.

I find it arrogant and ignorant. Why doesn't one of the leaders of the Democratic party know that statically there are more African American males in college than in prison..... makes me sick.

Alias is wrong.. big surprise.. Here is the quote../

Asked about what he could do about "inner-city kids partaking in violence" at the MTV/MySpace Forum yesterday, Democratic candidate John Edwards offered an apocalyptic prediction for young black males:

“We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

Yes, only John Edwards can keep Jesse Jackson and O.J. Simpson out of jail, and maybe even bring Tupac Shakur back to life. Not even Hillary can do all that, according to John Edwards.

John Edwards is the biggest hypocrite and phony I've seen in politics for a long time.

But I really thought blacks would flip out over his statement. Oh right, he's a democrat that explains it.

But hey, if he gets elected there's free haircuts for everyone yay!

I actually thought you were trolling when you asked that question, but the article actually leads us to believe John Edwards said that.

I'm going to have to research his quote a little more to put it in context. I'm hoping his real quote wasn't nearly that bad. The end of the article makes me think that he might be being misquoted a little bit by Fox News on that one.

Edit: I watched the video, but I never got around to posting another response. John Edwards didn't say what the article claims he said. It was an obvious non-story attack on Edwards.

WAIT A MINUTE!

This is NOT what Edwards said. It's what FOX said he said.

Here is the entire text of the article, FROM YOUR LINK...

[HEADLINE]
Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards said if he isn’t elected president, the population of African-American males is likely to either wind up in prison or dead.
[END HEADLINE]

At an MTV/MySpace.com forum Thursday, Edwards responded to a question about inner-city kids partaking in violence by saying there was no “silver bullet” to fight the problem.

[WHAT EDWARDS SAID]
“We start with the president of the United States saying to America, ‘we cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”
[END WHAT EDWARDS SAID]

----------------------

As you can see, Edwards did NOT say what YOU said he said.

HINT for the next time you watch or read FOX: It takes critical thinking skills to consume that tripe.

[ADDED] Kimmy - My "transcription" was CUT AND PASTE STRAIGHT FROM YOUR INSIPID SOURCE! (SAME EXACT THING THAT MTMEGGIDO DID ABOVE ME). GO READ IT YOURSELF! THE ONLY THING I "EDITED" WERE THE PHRASES I INSERTED IN BRACKETS FOR CLARITY! DON'T LIE!
