Ok, I turned 19 in late July and I still view myself as a regular teenager. I'm in college, still supported by my parents, I enjoy being a teen, no responsibilities, hanging out on the weekends, and when i'm home, I even have chores. I believe i'm a teenager still I mean, c'mon (Nine-TEEN)
but, some of my college buds who are 18-19 who also are supported by their parents, have chores while home, etc. etc. insists that we're adults... so, we are legal in some senses but, we don't function, think, or live as adults (thank god) (I actually hate that i'm in my last teen year!) I never understood the rush to give up the best times of your life Your TEENS are the best. What's so good about being an adult... I don't think 19 is an adult... but, my parent-depending friends do.

Any opinions?

You're an adult in the sense that you can vote, go to prison or join the military, but that's it.

Enjoy college, study hard and play hard. It can be the best time of your life...sort of. Get a part time job and learn to support yourself (at least a little bit). You'll understand, and thank me, when you're out of school.

First of all, I agree that there's no rush in growing up. Even though I wouldn't go back to being a teenager, because I love the years I've lived since then, good and bad, it's tougher being an adult.
So, although I agree with you that you are still a teenager, remember that you're preparing yourself right now for the independent life that you are going to live one day. Don't take advantage of the fact that your parents are still supporting. Instead use that support to save money and cherish the time that you have still living with them in the same house.

I think 18 you should at least but much more mature in a sense of having a job, school, paying for things, relationship, etc, but 21 is a suitable age for really being an adult..actually scratch that..when you get out of college=adult. things will drop from there with the relying on parents thing.

Well I actually hold the same belief that you do, but for some it really may not be true. They may have had to start being independent at a much earlier age, especially when they're transitioning from one culture to another (my parents are an example of this; however, I'm not). I do believe in enjoying life. I won't let age define my status.

Im an independed/dependent 19yo. Im 100% supported financially and have a home where I dont pay for anthing. BUT I do make my own decisions when it comes to school and what I do. Im not rude to my family or am spoiled so I am not treated like a child, and Im not expected to pay. But I do help keep the house in shape.

I think it's sort of a transition period.
You can still act like a teen, but you have adult responsibilities(paying for your own whatever, etc)

at 18 you are supposet o be able to come and go but if you are living under your parents roof and doing school and stuff you have to abide by their rules. if you wante dyou could have job and live alone and be your own person. that is all it means you still can't vote till 21 and its just anumber.
