We will be attending a corporate dinner on a maritime museum ferry(Berkley?) in the evening mid October in San Diego. It will be docked. I have never been to California so not sure of appropriate dress for the time of year and just want details of what I should wear. Don't want to be overdressed/underdressed. Another wife that will be attending said she would probably wear some sort of flirty dress. I'm not sure what that means. Thanks for any advice.

For a corporate dinner you wear a cocktail dress, or dressy pantsuit. Be sure to include a jacket or wrap - it is always a bit cooler on the water.
A spring/summer one should work well in San Diego in October - the weather is still very warm, and only a bit cooler at night.
Remember office rules apply at office social occasions as well - no nipples, bare backs, modest cleavage, if any; no bellies, whale tails, camel toes.

Please be careful - just came back from San Diego - there is a major temperature jump so dress accordingly for 80 degree (no humidity days) and 50 degree nights where a jacket or sweater is a must.

A pant suit would do well, lose the jacket during the day.
