My eyes are brown, my husbands are blue, and my sons eyes seam to be hazel (he is 9 months old). He had a slim chance at having blue eyes, but more likely to have brown eyes. Some eye colors like brown are more dominant colors, others like blue and green are recessive. You would have to go back to your mum and dad to work out why yours are brown and why your husbands (?) are hazel. As it stands, your baby has the chance to have brown, hazel or blue with the information you have given, though a higher chance at brown because it is more dominant than blue or hazel. (It is possible for two brown eyed parents to have a blue eyed child if both parents have a blue eyed gene because of one of their parents)

It depends. If you have the recessive gene for blue or hazel eyes, then there is a chance the baby will have them...assuming the father's brother is his full-brother meaning the dad would also have the blue gene. If you don't have the hazel or blue gene, then the baby will definitely have brown eyes. Is there anyone in your immediate family with blue or hazel eyes? If so, you probably have the genes. Good Luck!

Brown is the most dominant, therefore making it most likely! That isn't to say that your child couldn't end up with hazel or blue eyes! My mom has green eyes, my dad has brown, and I have blue! I have to go to a great grandmother to find blue eyes in my family! So anything can happen!

it don't matter who's eyes they are the way eye color is determined is by dominate genes. Blue eye color can be a dominate gene. But it could also get the hazel eyes. I carry a gene for blue eyes and so did my baby's father. But my eyes are hazel and his are blue. 2 of my kids have blue eyes and one has hazel so its any ones guess. Most Caucasian babies are born with blue eyes and their color will gradually change in their first few months to first few years until they get the eye color that they will have forever. Most doctors say that by 6 months your baby will have the eye color that they will have forever, but my daughter had blue eyes till she was 5 then they turned hazel. Just wait it out and see. Congrats on the baby and good luck!

Brown is always dominant. However, if a person is heterozygous brown (most are), it is possible to have a child with any eye color, depending on the other parent. Eye color is traditionally thought to be a simple Mendelian allele, but that is not completely true.
Let me clear up a few things people are saying. Blue is never dominant. Ever. Also, neither mother nor father is completely responsible for eye color. Both parents contribute an allele to the child. Please, if you do not understand genetics, don't answer the question. You just confuse people.

The baby will have a 50% chance of having blue/hazel eyes, but only if you are a carrier of the blue or hazel gene. If your genes are homozygous (all dominant, no recessive) then the baby will have brown eyes.

something to remember about eye color, when your baby is born, almost 90% of white babys are born with blue/grey eyes that change to their permanint color over their first year. I have 2 kids. one has hazel eyes and one has very icy blue eyes. Dads are brown and mine a darker blue. Your babies eyes will be the perfect color for them.

Well brown is meant to be dominant. My baby girl has green/blue eyes though and her dad has brown eyes and mine are green so I think anything can happen.

It isn't only the mom or dad, it depends on both your family lines. If all your family has brown eyes your baby will have brown eyes, and vice versa with the dad. My husband has brown eyes and is 1/2 Korean. My daughter has blue eyes, which I have. How she was able to get blue eyes was my husband's father has blue eyes.

My eyes are hazel, the same as my grandmothers on my moms side. Both of my parents have brown eyes and both of my brothers have brown eyes. I guess it just skipped a generation for me.
