All depends on whether you bought it with the internal wifi radio!

Check http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/support.html and enter the data for your unit. I tried and 8036 just wont get the right answer..
Omnibook, Pavilion, etc, or the full product number is needed.

Check the support site for the information and how to use it.

Not sure. When I search the HP support page I don't get a result for HP 8036. Is it a deskjet? an Inkjet? A multifunction?

I do know the Multifunction C7180 has a built in 802.11g wireless adapter.
