Sound intensity and loudness are different terms for the same thing. It is measured in decibels or sones. The sones measurement attempts to take into account the ear's response to different frequencies and still give a single value for loudness. Both use the threshold of hearing, approx. 2810^-5 Pascals at 2 kHz, as the reference value.
