I left the Navy when women first were assigned to Navy ships. I did not blame the Establishment, nor did I fault the women. Many were capable. My problem was my testosterone. In open quarters I did not have any problems but during close quarters at times it started to bother me, the perfume, the conversation, the laughter and things began to turn personal. I decided to leave before I get into trouble being married and all.
Much like in school, at times the environment becomes conducive to romantic interlude. After a period of time, things between the two become personal and love is in the air and before you know it things go out of hand. I believe that sex between a teacher and a student is unplanned and perhaps even unwanted but time together often changes things at times.

Unless these people suffer from serious mental illness or addiction, they're not going to go into teaching only to be near children. It is too hard to become a teacher. Although, I do believe they tend to seek out places where young people congregate.
P.S.- No, they didn't simply become this way by happenstance. They had feelings like this before they ever became teachers. If you "can not resist" anything, then you have a problem of addiction, and should be treated. There is always a choice to do right or wrong.

I taught for twenty years, and never once violated that trust...tho I had lots of girls have teacher crushes on me....these days it's as likely to be a female teacher and a male student...sometimes it's just hormones..young teachers with older students, a lot of the time it's loneliness that gets out of control; sometimes it's mental illness. I think only rarely is it premeditated paedophilia...

I do not agree with this at all. But I believe that they did not go to college, get a degree, become a teacher all to have sex and get involved in a relationship/scandal with a minor student. I am assuming they are perverts and it just happened.

I don't understand how any adult could or would have a relationship of the nature with a young child/teenager....Honestly what are they getting out of it. I know not pleasure half these kids didn't even reach puberty yet.....These people are sick....I think all teacher and anyone who works with children should undergo an extensive background check and psychological screening.....But that's just my opinion.

i think it's immoral if you are not on the situation, otherwise, it's difficult. love cannot be dictated and isn't planned right?so is the fact that whoever teacher gets involved in a relationship with her or his student and vice versa never planned it to happen. unless, there is a case that a teacher is a maniac or something and ended up having an affair with his or her student because he or she is really up to that thing.

I hope for the sake of my 2 young girls ( and my son for that matter) that it just happens and they don't intentionally go on the prowl for children. Teachers who sleep with kids anre paedophiles too.

I think that the stdents are students and put themselfs out there for it. If they didn't want it, they shouldn't have done it. (Not including rape cases!) Teachers are like regular people. All people mostly want to have sex, and when someone flaunts it, you get what you get. Think of a 17 and 18 year old. Anything wrong with that? So why does age diffrence pertain to the problem in these cases?
I guess It kinda just happens is my answer.
