I am taking penicillen and cough medicine prescribed by my doctor. My milk supply is REALLY low. It feels like I am drying up. How do I increase supply quickly?

Get some fenugreek.

Fenugreek is a spice that women have used for centuries to increase milk production...and it works wonders. Studies have shown it can increase milk supply by 800% or more!

You have to take enough for it to work (several 600 mg. capsules three times a day) but it can work in as little as 24 hours. I can testify to how well this stuff works...I nursed my son for two years and took it several times when I had supply issues...worked every time usually by the next day! ...and my nanny nearly had to stop nursing her son because her supply was low AND the quality wasn't good (doctor was concerned about "failure to thrive")...I gave her a bottle of fenugreek one day and the next day she actually woke up "engorged" (like that day or so after delivery when your "milk comes in")...her son quickly started thriving again and she was able to nurse for nearly a year.

You can buy fenugreek at most GNC locations, some health food stores, and online...try it, the chances are good it will work for you like it works for thousands of others!

You do have to make sure that both breasts are being emptied regularly (every three to four hours) for it to be really effective...if your baby isn't doing this, you need to pump.

Pump, pump, pump. There is medication for it, but only available in Canada. I suggest a hospital grade pump, drink a lot of water and pump every two hours for 3 days consecutively. It is incredibly painful but your milk will quickly increase. If you don't have a pump, but have medical insurance, these days they usually cover the cost of a pump, so give them a call. Good luck.

Make sure that even if you can't feed your baby, pump as often as you would normally nurse. If you can use a double pump, it will help a lot more. Also relax, when you are stressed it can affect a lot of things, and isn't good for you.
