Short of legal and judicially reviewed criminal investigation with proper and reasonable cause... should privacy be guarded at any cost?

I would tell you to ask a German Jew that question. Wait you can't they had no privacy from Nazi Germany and well they were killed.

That provision can justify anything. Just by making something we can then create a reason to delve into your private life and matters.

Personally, privacy is over-rated. I have nothing to hide. I don't care who knows or what they know.

to keep that which is sacred is not selfishness and should be protected but to that which is harmful and destructive should be revealed
