I am a teacher, and I do not think it is appropriate at all. This is an issue between parent and student. Although I understand it is the school's job to keep the children safe, this is a violation of human rights. It is not like it's a job where they have a choice of being there or not.

When I was in high school (graduated 2005) my school was talking about doing random drug tests, but they were only going to test athletes if they decided to go through with it.

I think it's a brilliant idea my question is why didn't think of that before I used to take drugs all the time in high school I wish I didn't I wish there was something like that to stop because I totally screwed up my chances of going to uni. But I do own my own business I took the hard road many years were wasted in my on drugs and alcohol.

There is an epedemic in this country. We need to do something. Yes it's a good thing to do random drug testing. people need to be accountable. There's not enough recovery centers like the prisons. There full of addicts. If your clean and don't give a reason to be tested then you have nothing to worry about. Be proud to be drug free. Say no to alcohol and drugs.

I am a parent and grandparent. Drug testing in school should only be done if there are reasons to believe that there might be a drug problem. If some one is exhibiting abnormal behavior the test should be done.

Im a student. They require it for anyone that participates in extracurricular activities or drives to school. You have to sign a release for it or you can't be in extracurric. activities.
It's so funny because people come to school after the weekend and are like "damn i hope they dont drug test today". Funny stuff. People that arent in extracurr. or drive can do drugs all they want though as long as they show the side effects and get caught.
I say yes, because i am ABOVE THE INFLUENCE and i dont want to be around people who are under it.

It's not like I have anything to worry about, I don't do drugs.
Keep in mind that the high school already does drug testing for athletes. It's just one of the many things that you have to do. Doing alcohol under 21 (in Cali) is illegal always, and smoking under 18 is. If you aren't doing anything illegal, then you have nothing to worry about.

That's weird, I think they could only do that if they have probable cause, like reason to believe that a student would be taking drugs in the first place..

That sound illegal, unless the student is an athlete they shouldn't be tested for drugs.
