okay, my best friend of my has started up an affair with someone she had one with about five years ago. I know the marriage of 7 years is on the skids, has been from the beginning. anyway, do I mention to her that I know what is going on or wait 'til she says something? We are going to dinner (just the two of us) tomorrow night! do I act as nothing is wrong or do I try and bring up the subject?

thanks to all who have replied. I will keep my mouth shut on this until she is ready to bring it up, though I worry I'm just burying my head in the sand.

well, if you are really best friends then you should be able to discuss anything. bring it up and don't do it negatively but as a caring friend.

Just tell her flat out you know what she's doing then ask why she is putting so much energy into a new relationship when she could be using that energy to make her marriage work and dont accept any of her sad sack sorry excuses blast her and tell her to grow up .

It's none of your business unless the friend brings it up.
I'd distance myself from this friend for a while until the friend figures out what the heck they want, or until you figure out if you really need a friend like this.

Not your business. If she brings it up, and wants advice, do the best you can. I don't recommend bringing it up, because then you'll be smack dab in the middle of the whole situation, and that's not a good place to be.

Unless you have ironclad evidence or saw them in a compromising position with your own eyes I would not bring it up.

i disagree. with the others. it is not your place to tell hubby. but as her best friend.. if you truly are.. then you can ask... her what she is doing or thinking. friends tell friends when they need deodorant.. non friends just talk behind their back. get what i am saying. "hey kiddo... you know i love you..and you are my best friend.. but what is going on.?

It's the best if you're not in their business. I think, if you think you really should talk to your best friend, then talk. =p
