He found it 19 minutes after the customer left it and he's on tape. Last I heard they are trying to find him...he used his credit card for his purchase so that won't be hard!

That's a lot of money; he should try to return it to the owner, who then might offer him a percentage as reward, but is not obligated to really. If it were your $3,100, what would you want him to do? and wouldn't you offer him a cash reward for returning it?
Now if the finder can't find the owner to return the money, he should be able to keep it.

If the rightful owner cannot be found after a period of time, then the finder can keep the money. Sometimes drug money are left unclaimed by owners on purpose because the alternative is jail.

I'd keep it if I found it, but that really is the wrong thing to do. lol

What if it was your money you lost? Would you then say " Oh well, finders keepers! That'll teach me!"

No, you'd cry and get angry and call the guy a bunch of names and demand he give it back, right?

Tough call....

No, technically it's theft because it is an obvious assumption that someone has left it by accident. He should have handed it in to his police station and then if it wasnt claimed after a period of time it would have been his.

Well I think they should try to find the person it belongs to and then that person should give the one who found it a reward.

i don't think so. Well, maybe like $500 for finding it, but he should try ot find the owner, or give it to some charity.

i would say he should be able to keep it, but of course it must belong to someone, so he should turn it in
