I was told I have some family in Japan, I know some things about it, and some things i don't know. I live in the US, and thats where my mother had me. She is from Japan, but came here 40 years ago. anyways my mother never told me much about my family, and I want to find out how to get information. I can't ask her because she is dead now. So I don't know what to do. help me please.

Well I would ask Family here if I had any, but I do not. Thats why I want to find a family that I have left. I don't know any relitives here in the US that are related to me.

I imagine you have already thought about asking other family members such as her Father and Mother or siblings. If she moved away from them and they are the ones you are seeking. Is your dad still living? Can he offer any information?

It's not so easy to locate someone especially when you are staying in your country. To find family, you'd better find her birthday, birthplace, Kanji name, old friends, etc. Koseki is not always directly linked to someone, but it's one of the most important information in Japan.
