Ya tell your husband to use a condom if he cares about your health.

Condoms, cervical caps, and spermicides are a great way to go when you can't use hormones.
If you want to try Natural Family Planning, they claim to be as effective as the pill so long as you follow their rules exactly. If that is what you're interested in, try checking out "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Tony Weschler from your library and see if that is a good option for you. You may also be able to find a class in your area that teaches NFP. That method basically teaches you when your fertile days are so you know shich days in each cycle it's safe to have sex and which days are not. Good luck, I hope this gives you some ideas.

What about the copper IUD? No hormones there.

You might want to check with Catholic churches in the area for natural family planning methods. They teach classes on how to track your cycle and avoid fertile periods. Worth looking into.

Good luck, hon. No baby dust for you :)

Why did your doctor advise against an IUD? I'd get a second opinion. Mirena or ParaGard are good choices for long-term reversible birth control.

Natural family planning -- use temperature charts and check temperature daily (same time) to determine when you're ovulating. This will determine when it's safe to engage in relations vs when to abstain. You should try it out for a few cycles to determine what type of cycle you have. It works!

If by "safe period" you are talking about the time during your cycle when you are infertile, you can get info. about that here: http://www.fertaware.com/. Don't believe anyone who tells you this doesn't work. They don't know what they're talking about. Good luck. :)

Why don't you at least use condoms? If you are talking about the rhythm method of avoiding pregnancy, most of us good Catholic women could tell you that doesn't work worth a crap.

well yes. My mom taught me about sex education. Here is the way to chekc the time of your period.

You should do this regualarly. 1) in the morning before you get up, keep the covers on yourself have your husband take your temperature and check write it down.
2)do it the next morning and the next etc.
if you're fertile (before the blood starts coming out ) your temperature will suddenly rise and then fall and will be uneven for a few days. ofcourse I never tried this before but my mum said its effective.

another easier way is to have sex after your period is over...

mmm.......your husband too good to use condoms?? . Tell him do something and not put the entire burden on you. He needs to use a condom and you a diaphragm at the same time, problem solved.

dont try that rhythm thing, its not anywhere near foolproof, you will end up pregnant

If it's a serious health risk for you i would consider having your husband's sperm frozen in a bank and getting him to have a vasectomy.
