quick run down on data access on phones, regardless of carrier.
The standard rate is $0.03 per kb. pretty much industry wide.
If you get a data plan those charges don't apply. 10.00 to about 59.99 depending on data plan and capabilities.
And its not rape, if you'd read your contract you'd have known if you don't have a data plan than you'd get charged for each KB you send/receive.
And why did you think you wouldn't get charged for the data access, when all it said was a complimentary ring tone. they never said they wouldn't charge you for the data just not for the ring tone.
Your basic cell plan generally only covers phone calls, not data access.
REMEMBER CLASS, ASK THE QUESTION, READ THE FINE PRINT, AND DON'T THINK ITS GONNA BE FREE JUST CAUSE SOMEBODY SAYS SO.

No, but then again, I don't download ringtones. Did you know your phone can get a virus that way, just like your computer?

See, it all depends on how you define the word "complimentary". They are obviously using it to mean "bank deposit", theirs, not yours.

I would refuse to pay it. and get another company. try a company where you prepay or something because that is not fair of them to do that.
