No & I love children but they are a lot of responsibility. I learned this from babysitting my 7 cousins growing up also they're expensive and I enjoy my independence--being able to come & go as I please.
I don't think having children is what makes you a woman society expects women to want to have children & is further reinforced by our families (my aunt once asked me when was I gonna get married & have kids), instead I tell ppl it's because I'm a woman that I can have children; I'm not less of a woman if I choose not to have children ;-)

Who cares what your friend says? I don't want kids, but I think like 99% of women do, or think they do. The thing is that with kids, once you have one, you're stuck with it, you can't go back or change your mind. Yeah, some women do give them up for adoption - that takes courage - but I think with society's pressures, women feel like they have to have kids to be real people.
Where do you see anywhere a successful woman without kids? Look at Star Wars, in the end or the middle, doesn't Princess Leia end up having twins or something? Despite her courage, adventures, heritage, etc. in the end she's a mom and her legacy is to keep the bloodline going. She's a fictional character, do you think "she" wanted to have kids? I bet she wanted to go kill some Sith lords but no, it seemed right to make her a mom.
Society rewards moms, and motherhood is important, without moms, theres no one else, but there's so much more to it, it's attention, self-worth, love, genetics, all sorts of stuff that I am so happy I can choose not to deal with.

i know 3 senior citizen females who are childless and have no regrets about it. chi chi needs to not speak for the female population of the planet. do not confuse maternal instincts with wanting a kid. I am 27 and i refuse to bring a child into this world.

I have a few female relatives who chose not to have children and are happy with their decision, so I'd have to disagree with Chi Chi.

Nope, your buddy is wrong. One in Five women in the USA will choose never to have children. They are hard to find because they are usually the hard-working career type. I looked hard, and fund one, and we have been together for 5 years!
We belong to a "Childfree" club. All the members are couples that don't want children.

My former best friend never wants kids. She hates kids. I think it's because she IS the baby in her house. She's 32. Her parents take her everywhere, pay for her concert tickets, etc. Personally, I don't think she's know what to do with a baby.

I think that some women really do not want to have children, some do not take kindly to kids. I think every woman is different just like every man is!

I know a lot of women that do not want to have, nor do they have, children. I think though that you do not hear about the majority of the women that want to remain childless because of social and religious pressures for all women to me mothers of the year.
