I would like to know when did you start feeding your infant/s? My daughter is 3 months old and I would like to start feeding her at 6 months, but many people are telling me to start now or at 4 months. She is a breastfed baby and a healthy weight, and is happy, which to me should be fine untill she is 6 months old. What do you think? Thank you all in advance...also what did you feed your infant/s? More and more people seems to be going orgnanic and homemade, whats your view?

if you would like to wait until she is 6 months then wait breast milk is enough right now for her. i just bought regular baby food from a jar and all 3 of my children are just fine and healthy. if you are the type of person that buys organic for yourself and is concerned about it then buy organic. if you have time to make it yourself and that interests you then by all means do that. YOU do what's best for YOU and YOUR baby. everyone does everything different and we all (pretty much) end up with happy healthy children. congrats on the new baby!

The ideal time to start feeding babies seems to change all the time. It used to be that the longer you could hold out, the better. Then there was some thinking that kids seem to do better with getting used to eating foods if you introduce them earlier. I have also heard that the only nutrition a baby needs until they are a year old is breast milk and that feeding them all the other stuff is really just for socialization. Some people try to get their baby to eat solid foods early, thinking that they will sleep better. It seems to me that if your baby is happy and healthy and growing well that you can just continue to do what you're doing. I also think that if your baby is 3 months old now, you certainly don't need to decide now if you are gong to wait a month or two months or three months before you introduce foods. You can stick with things the way they are now until it no longer seems to work for whatever reason. You don't need to plan it so specifically. I also started feeding my daughter rice cereal and applesauce and she HATED it so, I waited another few weeks and tried again. No harm done. I used to buy "Earth's Best Organic Baby Food." I just figured it wasn't that much more money for those little jars of food and I'd rather avoid putting all those awful things into her body for as long as easily possible. Eventually they start wanting all the foods they see around them and I felt like it wasn't the right thing to let my kid feel deprived so I let her eat all the things she wanted. I always offered her healthy foods and tried to fill her up on the good stuff so she wouldn't have a huge appetite for junk food. It worked for a long time!! She wouldn't eat ice cream if she wasn't hungry and she would only eat a half of a cookie at a time. She never liked soda. But she didn't ahve much variation in her diet and she liked mostly pasta. I breastfed her until she went cold turkey one day and wanted nothing more to do with it when she was nine months old. Good luck!

Unless your doctor tells you otherwise for medical reasons, babies don't need solid food until they are 6 months old. Especially breastfed babies. I breastfed both my children and didn't start them on solids until 6 months. I always read somewhere between 4-6 months is good, but if breastmilk can give them 100% of what they need, why give them anything else for now? With my first child, I made all of my baby food (awesome book called Super Baby Food). I even made most of his cereal. It is cheaper and more nutritious. And once you know what you're doing, it really doesn't take long at all. I made most of the food for my second child but it was a little harder since I had an older child to take care of, too! But i still made most of it! I loved it! I feel like I really gave my boys a good start, with breastfeeding and making healthy baby food! Good luck!

You don't have to do it at 4 months, you are the baby's mother and you know her better then anyone else. Lots of people delay solids until the infant shows an interest in them, like reaching for food on plates and all that.

Here is what Dr. Sears has to say about the subject

I am in a similar situation...my baby is 2 months and exclusively breastfed, and I plan to introduce some regular foods at 6 months. The only reason to start earlier is if you want them to sleep longer, because real foods fill them up more than breastmilk (I heard). But if you are having no problems, I say if it's not broke, no need to fix it. :)

you're her mom she will start letting you know when she is ready to eat more, a lot of moms start there babies on cereal around the ages of 2 to 4 months to try and get there baby to sleep longer. If you want to hold of then go ahead.

Do what you and your baby wants to do. You don't have to do it at 4 months, it is best to wait till 6 months anyways. No rush into it though.

if your family has history of allergies, feed her when she reaches 6 months of age. then, feed her the same food for a week to see her reaction to the food.

ideall, you should breastfeed your child exclusively til 6 months.
