there was some sort of nighttime news program about a family that moved into a new house and was being terrorized by something in the phoneline or electrical system. The police could not ever trace where it came from and it called itself either "Somi or Sami". It had a really freaky voice and eventually the family ended up moving because it kept calling their house. This was either on 20/20 or Dateline or some show like that in the 1990's.

Not only do I remember it but I have a little gargoyle on my mantle that I named Somi. Unfortunately I was just searching to see if I could find the story online and all I found was your question.

I think it was unsolved mysteries, they had very odd pictures developed with their film reels as well.
