D.O.A, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, Generation X, The Kinks, The Velvet Underground, Devo, The Slits, The Subversives, The Adverts, there's so many, you can look some up in Wikipedia.
P.S: Isn't it sad u had to ask that question under "Rock and Pop"... There needs to be a Punk section.

OoooOooo! Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, Misfits, Black Flag, Social Distortion, Bad Religion are classically good bands. Not quite as early as the bands listed but a good choice for any great punk repertoire. Basically the cornerstone of all great punk, i say (i mean besides the Ramones, Pistols etc...)... but listen for yourself.
