Either a crazy virus so do some antivirus scanning or overheating and i'm guessing your computer is probably overheating. You didn't say if it was a laptop or not but laptops overheat pretty easy get a chillpad for it, now if it's a desktop you might need to clean it because you probably have dust build up. GL

If it turns off randomly, the common causes are virus or overheating. Run full virus scan. Get a can of compressed air, open the case & blow out the dust bunnies.
If it turns on randomly, ??? Take it to a computer shop

My mom's computer did that, and it was the CD drive's fault. I'd suggest calling your local PC fix-it shop and asking for some info. They will help you out free over the phone for a little while and perhaps you'll resolve something. If not, you'll probably have to eventually bring it in, like my mom ended up doing.
My own computer did that for a while, too, and it was b/c of the power outlet. Maybe changing the plug you use or anything like that would help?

YOu may have a virus, or your computer drive/ram may be failing. Or said virus is taking up all the free space on said drive or ram.
Or, your laptop battery is failing?
If youre running windows xp or higher, you may want to try a system restore first. Or you could try downloading the latest version of spybot or adaware from download.com.
If there are specific errors or other symptoms you may want to use google to reasearch them, or post more details here.

This is a problem with heating. Open up your computer and get all of the dust out of the case. Also, make sure your fan is working.

Maybe your computer has been infected by a virus.Have you checked for viruses?
Run a full scan on your computer.
Have you checked for spy-ware run a full scan too.
If you don't have an anti virus check this out.
http://free.grisoft.com
For spy-wares:
Just go to cnet.com and search for Spybot SD (I forgot the original site where you can download it)
Hope this helps!

1. there is a type of virus...i think its called reboot virus or something?...well it randomly shuts down/restarts your computer...try to scan your computer with ur antivirus.
2. something is loose, maybe a cord or something is loose, open ur computer and check.
3. dust!...your computer may be filled with lots of dust, clean the inside of your computer. dust may accumulate inside causing overheating...when a computer overheats, it may shutdown.
4. one of your drives probably doesnt work...
i would go to a place that fixes computers...

yeah i seen that happen before!
ugh, i would recommend you to change your power supply
its the one that supplies power to everything inside the
components of the computer!
if you got a spare power supply, switch it, it wont hurt to do so.
teh technicians would sometimes do this procedure.
make sure its 115 V of power! in the US, its always 115 volts.

Power Supply could be weak or the capacitors on the motherboard could be swollen or leaking, causing it to fail.
