That is absolutely insane to the nth degree. I think the boy should be pulled from any criminal proceedings, and immediately injected into intensive psychological treatment. A) To help him cope with this incredible loss and likely resulting incredible guilt, or B) Determine whether he is legitimately criminally insane and then take further action from that determination.

He needs to be punished someone but unfortunatly if he ends up in Juvie he will likely become worse.
As far as the person that says what kind of upbringing did he have. Hard to judge that. My boys are good boys. They are respectful, kind, do well in school and rarely get in trouble even at home and usually it is sibling rivalry type stuff but they are boys and recently one of them got into the camping gear in the garage and pulled out the lighter we use to light fires at camp. Alot of stuff all over the yard was found burned. It was curiousity. Still do not know which one or ones are involved. We had a family meeting, pulled up many articles on the interent and discussed the dangers of playing with fire. So we cannot say what kind of upbringing he had. This may have been a boy being curious about fire for all we know. Boys do things like this. Its up to the parents to just teach them the dangers of it before it gets out of hand. We have not found anything burned in the yard since our meeting which yes I scared the crap out of them with what can happen.

1. If he was questioned without a guardian present, the confession and all the information obtained from it should be barred from the trial.

2. Because of his age he should be tried as a juvenile.

3, Guilty or Innocent, he should be sent to a place were he could get mental care and evaluation immediately.

4, If like most states he is to be released at 21, someone needs to be responsible to say he will not offend again or they will be punished.

Well he does need help and it's in the form of mental help he's 10 not 16 and this is such a joke that they are not taking the right steps for his defense. Prison is not the place for a 10 year old-omg. Someone get some help for the people in charge there it's obvious they also need help coping with real day problems.

The whole point of our judicial system is to publically punish those who break the law and set an example for others to think about, who are they setting an example for other 10 year olds? I think he's not fit to live, but opinions are not law. I pity those that have to make this decision.

Wow.

He has lost his entire family. It doesn't appear that there is proof he intentionally set a fire to hurt or kill anybody. He's 10.

I would think that five murder charges were possibly not the best way to go.

Tragic.

Wether he should be or not, he's too younge to be in any jail and he's clearly mental IF he did set the place on fire with intent. I'd say he needs guidence more than a jail term.

They couldn't possibly know for sure if the boy actually did it. I mean he might have said he did, but htey can't he can't just be cahrged right on the spot. I mean, like the first O.J. Simpson case. It was obvious he did it, but he never even seved time.

Somebody started the fire. An Arson unit must have determined that. But who? If the boy was forced to confess and didn't do it, that is wrong. If he did lite the fire and it killed people, that is wrong. I hope the truth comes out.
