When I hear graduate, under-post graduate, master, doctor, bachelor, sophomore. I go astray. Please talk to me as if I were a 4 year old living in the U.S.

After high school there is undergrad education, i.e. college/university. This is a four year degree. The first year is freshman, the second is sophomore, the third is junior and the fourth is senior. Then some continue on to additional education. One can do a Master's degree (a 2-year degree that may or may not require a thesis; the initials of this degree are MA or MSW or MFA or similar) or a doctorate (which gives one the title of "doctor" and usually the initials PhD...a doctorate requires that one conduct original research and a thesis and is usually required to become faculty at a college; this degree takes 4 or more years to complete).
