Yankees. Better record since the All-Star game, and they've beaten Boston 9 of the last 11 head-to-head.

Look at what has happenned since Cleveland and the Angels clinched. They have both been throwing games. Neither one of those teams want to play the yankees. The team with the best record that is not the Red Sox will have to play the Yankees in the divisional series.
It is really laughable. Figgins says he wants to play every day so he can qualify for the batting title. They sit Garrett Anderson, who has been just about the hottest hitter for the last two months. As for the comments about the better Red Sox pitching, I am not so sure anymore. Besides Beckett, who has pitched well for them the second half of the season?
If A-Rod & Jeter bat .260 (minimum) in the playoffs, Yankees win.

Well the Red Sox have been playing really good lately. The Yankees have been so-so. I'm speaking in terms of this week.

The teams are about equal in talent but the Yankees have been playing better since the all-star break.

It would be great ALCS! As a Sox fan I would root for them but I'm not convinced they would win. At the same time I'm not affraid of the Yankees either. If either teams plays their bes they will win.
NYY pitching is worse but their Offense is better.

I was actually surprised by boston get AL east after they finished 10 behind the yanks last year. It's a toss up. Yanks have done an awful good job of screwing up the playoffs in the last couple years. esspecially 2004 =[

One thing is certain, as good as they each are they both make the other team better.
