I don't see why you would have to shave your beard. If it is being asked out of respect for your grandfather or if your family does it then you would have to. The best thing to do is ask your family and see what they want done. It's not really a big deal though. If you shave your beard it will always grow back. That's why men shave if they don't want beards or mustaches.
