Well I allready installed the RAM into my computer. I added a gig awhile ago, but today just opened up my case and looked at the other RAM stick that came pre-installed in my eMachines, and it says it's 512 MB on the stick. Great.... but on my computer (before I added the gig) it said I had 382 MB of RAM. Also, now after I installed the gig it says that I have 1.4 GB of RAM, and if the one installed has 512 MB, wouldn't it be 1.5? What made it 328 MB?

The sticker on the RAM stick could be wrong or your computer could be reading the pre installed RAM wrong

Sometimes, they'll round up the amount of RAM on the stick. It's probably a combination of that and your video card if it's integrated

do a RAM test....u would have a fair idea if portions of your RAM is bad. it happened with me once. i mean my computer.

your RAM might still be working but parts of it is of no use now. but anyways 328mb of your RAM seems to be still good.

get your memory tester from this website.

its worth it.
