I heard someone saying that and found it very alarming! They said our military was so stretched it couldn't even defend us! Is this true?! I sure hope not!!!

No worries, once we have a regime change in the next election things will get back on track.

Our military is stretched and stressed out( I am a military wife). They keep cutting everything but the work hrs. My husband works 60 plus hrs during the week that's not including the time he puts in on the weekend. When are we suppose to have family time? But any way I still believe that our military could protect us.
I believe what is hurting America the most is us. Not the Government but everyone. Everyone has their hand out wanting something for nothing. Thinking they are owed something that they didn't work for. We aren't standing up for what is wrong unless there is a n agenda by some group. Yes there are many people who are considered poor in this country but they have the opportunity through education that is free to help themselves out of it. In several other countries people don't have that opportunity. Sure everyone has their complaints even me but in reality we should all be thankful for what we do have and our freedoms. All the other countries see is us fighting against one another. If you look at History the greatest societies fell from within not from being attacked from the outsiders.

The USA is still the most economically powerful nationn on Earth and that is still a prime pre-requesite for also being the most militarily powerful nation on Earth.

Iraq has really exposed the limits of American military power, and that was probably the greatest mistake arising out of this invasion. This does not mean the USA cannot defend itself, it just means that its ability to project power are both limited, and, more importantly, *seen* to be limited.

But future battles are not going to be fought on the military front but on the economic front, and other nations such as China are looking like they will overthe next couple of decades overtake the U.S. as the world economic power-house.

The USA is losing time by concentrating on the military aspect and should be looking at other arenas to maintain its hegemony, such as education, green technology, space, biomedical science and other scientific areas.

The caveman-like policies of George Bush and the so-called War on Terror are probably the biggest setback in America's battle for the future.

Oh, come on! Look at how unprepared we were for the 2nd W.W.; then look at how long it took us to get ready & win it!
The problem is that we are fighting the wrong type of war with the wrong type of weapons. Tanks & planes don't do us much good in street fighting. We need to go back & take a lesson from the old days, when we had to fight street by street & only brought the tanks in to back us up, not the other way around! Don't worry, we are equal to any task we set out to win! The question is: do we really want to win? What will we have gained by winning? Are we only fighting a war so the rich can get richer at our expense? Maybe those are the questions.

We're fine. Clinton just about destroyed us, but we are building back to good levels. Just keep freaking libs the hell out of our white house and we won't have to rebuild it all the time.
